Marisa Rawlins Bradfield and the LAMAS Choir at the Dorothy Chandler's Christmas Special

Marisa Rawlins Bradfield began her music education at the Los Angeles Music and Art School in 1987. Since then, she has sung for radio, television, and feature Films including The Osbournes, Newlyweds, and Apollo 13. At age fifteen, she was accepted into the Los Angeles Co. High School for the Performing Arts, where she had the privilege of performing at the Playboy Jazz Festival, The International Association of Jazz Educator's Convention, and The Monterey Jazz Festival. She was also awarded Jazz Vocalist of the year by Barbra Morrison's organization, The Young Educated Singers Inc.

After graduating High School, Marisa attended Amherst University's summer jazz program where she studied with jazz greats like Sheila Jordan, and Dr. Billy Taylor. She continued her education at Mt. San Antonio College where she sang with the Mt. San Antonio College Chamber Singers under the direction of Bruce Rogers.

The Mt. San Antonio's Chamber Singers have achieved top ranking in national and international competitions throughout the world. Marisa toured with the group and performed in Concert halls in the United States, Canada, Wales, England, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, and the Czech Republic. In 2003, Marisa participated with the Chamber Singers in Varna, Bulgaria where the group went on to win best title of "Grand Prix Champions." She also performed at the 2000 International Musical Eisteddfod Competition in Wales. The Chamber Singers competed against choirs from around the world and received more awards than any other competing choir; including 1st place honors in the Youth Choir and Chamber Choir categories and runner-up finish in the Choir of the World Competition.

Marisa was also a member of the vocal jazz group, "Singcopation," who went on to win the 2001, 2002, 2004, Downbeat Magazine award as the No. 1 college vocal jazz choir in the United States. After attending Mt. SAC, she went on to receive her Bachelors in Music Education with a Choral emphasis from California State University Northridge where she studied with Dr. Paul Smith.

Since then, Marisa has had the passion for conducting choir ensembles of her own and teaching a private voice studio. She has directed the Los Angles Music and Art School's Choir for the last six years, and has had a wonderful time creating beautiful music with the students.

The LAMAS Choir has also had the experience of performing at many city events including the Dorothy Chandler's Christmas Special in 2005. If interested in auditions, please contact LAMAS front office.
