New Classes at LAMAS!
Individual Cello Lessons
Students now have the opportunity to study and learn how to play the cello, the low string sound of an orchestra known for its beautiful rich sonority. After 6 months of taking cello lessons, students will be eligible to participate in the LAMAS Youth Orchestra. You can register for lessons at LAMAS today! Lessons will start in June.
Congratulations Jason for your recent awards!
Recently, Jason Castillo, LAMAS guitar student, has competed and won 2 music competitions. In March, he won third place in the Regional District 5300 Dan Stover Memorial Music Competition where he proudly represented his sponsor, Rotary Club of East Los Angeles.
At the age of 17, Jason is not only a talented young guitarist, but also a composer. In April, he won second place in the Jack Gard Music Competition with his own composition, Imagery, mesmerizing his audience with his virtuosic talent once more.

Junior Division

All of the Jack Gard Music Competition Finalist interperted their pieces beautifully, making it a difficult decision for the judges. "There was incredible focus and poise; everyone looked like a professional," Dr. Gideon Rubin, LAMAS Music Director.

Art Night 2008: "Moving Nature"
On April 24th, LAMAS art students had the opportunity to share their art work with family and friends and discover professions which use the visual arts.
Daniel Heras, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional Architect, spoke about his career and what inspired him to become an architect. He shared some of his two and three dimensional art and engaged in an invigorating discussion with students. Many students learned that architects not only design buildings, but also the furniture that will go inside that building.
