Ivory Reid

Ivory Reid has been moving their body for as long as she can walk. She is trained in many dance forms, including ballet, jazz, jazz funk, hip hop, modern, contemporary/lyrical, and tap. She's competed in Ballroom-American Standard and Latin Styles, and has studied West African and Belly Dance.
Ivory starting teaching in Northern California, assisting the dance director at her college, and working at an after school performing arts school, while getting two Associates degrees - one in Theater Arts and another in Dance Performance. She performed in multiple showcases and companies in Northern California, before relocating to Los Angeles in 2008 to attend Cal State Long Beach (go CSULB!) to pursue her BA and a career in the arts. At CSULB, she obtained more dance learning taking classes at commercial studios like Evolution, IDA, Millennium Dance Complex, and at Debbie Reynolds. She's taught all over Los Angeles, including Pasadena, Malibu, and Camarillo to name a few. She's worked on a handful of Indie and up-and-coming artists' music videos as a dancer and choreographer. Music video experience helped her craft her work as a choreographer and creative director for musicals in both NorCal and SoCal. The pandemic's impact enabled Ivory to adapt to impromptu learning experiences and has afforded the skills to teach dance and dance cardio in unique places like yards, parking lots, parks, beaches, and on this crazy app called ZOOM! In her spare time, Ivory is also a DJ.
Dance, music, and movement/acting are in Ivory's blood. She breathes music and dance, and loves to see others find their way to it. She wants everyone to be comfortable, have fun and push themselves. The arts helped save her and continues to be a source of healing that she is passionate about sharing with others. She is very excited to be a part of the LAMusArt family!
