SPONSOR The Contest is sponsored by the Los Angeles Music and Art School
ELIGIBILITY All students enrolled in music, art, dance and drama programs at LAMusArt are eligible to apply.
THEME The theme is the arts during the holidays. Students are encouraged to represent their artistic passion in a Holiday context in a creative way.
TIMING Submissions are accepted to the front office from September 10,2014 to September 30, 2014.
ORIGINALITY All designs or photographs must be the original work of the applicant or clear master copies. All applicants represent, state, and agree that their Contest submission will not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party, including by way of example and not by limitation, any copyright, trademark or patent rights belonging to any third party. Plagiarism in any form will result in disqualification.
HOW TO ENTER
Participants must fill out submission sheet included at the end of this packet.
Mediums accepted are acrylic, watercolor, oil, pastels, charcoal, pen and ink and computer generated graphics.
Artwork must be on 9”x12” canvas board (available for purchase at the front office for $2) and submitted to the front office or digitally (only if it is a computer-generated graphic piece ONLY) photoshop PDF file of the same size submitted to mprieto@LAMusArt.org by 5pm on September 30, 2014.
Artwork will be displayed in the lobby of the school during the holidays at the discretion of the school.
JUDGING CRITERIA & OVERALL AWARDS
Up to five designs will be selected and produced as official LAMusArt holiday cards and will be used in fundraising efforts for the organization. One (1) winner out of the top 5 finalists will receive a 6-month art lesson scholarship, while the other finalists (up to 4) will receive recognition and name placement on all printed artwork and program literature and will get a set of his or her greeting card.
The panel of judges will then select a winner from the top 5 finalists.
The panel of judges will score all eligible Contest Entries based on the Judging Criteria below and will select the winners by October 6, 2014:
Overall aesthetic appeal
Quality of execution
Creativity and Originality
Successful incorporation of theme (the arts during the holidays)
Appropriateness for use as a greeting card
Attractiveness to LAMusArt’s corporate and consumer customers
NOTIFICATION OF WINNER The Winner(s)will be notified by email no later than October 1, 2014. The Winner will also be announced on LAMusArt’s website.
