80th Anniversary Campaign

For 80 years, LAMusArt has been the artistic heartbeat of East Los Angeles—a place where creativity is nurtured, families gather, and young people discover and develop their voices. What began as a small community music school has blossomed into a vibrant multidisciplinary arts hub, offering instruction in music, art, dance, and drama to more than 700 students each year.

In keeping with our mission of access and inclusion, LAMusArt has made meaningful improvements to our campus to ensure it is welcoming and accessible to all. We’ve completed a fully accessible front entrance, added a new accessible restroom, and expanded our parking lot to increase the number of accessible parking spaces—removing physical barriers so that every student, family member, and guest can participate fully in the life of our school.

Now, we invite you to be part of The Art of Impact—a movement to strengthen our programs, expand access, and celebrate the transformative power of the arts in the lives of young people. Together, we can ensure that creativity continues to thrive in East LA for generations to come.

COMMUNITY MOSAIC

At the heart of our 80th Anniversary campaign is a stunning, permanent mosaic installation in the lobby. Conceived and designed by a local artist-in-residence, this piece will become part of the daily rhythm of our building.

Each tile—different in color, size, and shape—is striking on its own. But together, they form something more: a vibrant, unified whole.

Donors of $1,000 and above will be recognized with a named tile in the Community Mosaic. This installation will not only beautify our building—it will physically embody the generosity of those who make our mission possible.

Like our East LA community, this mosaic is dynamic, diverse, and deeply interconnected.

THE DREAM KEEPER

When you step into LAMusArt’s lobby, you’re entering more than just a building—you’re welcomed into a space alive with warmth, imagination, and possibility.

As part of our anniversary celebration, we are proud to introduce The Dream-Keeper—a sculptural vessel designed for LAMusArt. Created as a companion to our beloved Community Mosaic, this participatory artwork invites every visitor to contribute reflections, hopes, and creative expressions for themselves, their families, LAMusArt, and the wider East LA community.

And this is just the beginning.

The Dream-Keeper will remain a permanent installation—reopened once each decade to reflect the dreams and insights of a new generation. As children become parents and neighbors become mentors, their layered reflections will form a lasting legacy. In years to come, local schools, families, and community partners will be invited to take part—because LAMusArt’s journey has always been shaped by us, together.
