Arts under the Sun

The heat does not stop and neither does LAMusArt! The first heatwave featuring our Summer Arts Enrichment Programs are well underway.

Our Camp MusArt has just begun. This year, students will be flexing their imaginations to put on their own production of Seussical Jr! Seussical is a synthesis of Seuss’s most famous books featuring beloved characters such as  The Cat in The Hat, The Grinch, and Horton the Elephant.

For the next five weeks students will take daily lessons in

music, art, dance, and drama. All culminating in a live fully-produced musical performance for family, friends, and community members. Camp MusArt includes additional special activities and field trips for students to explore the arts beyond the classroom walls and draw inspiration into their own performances.

While the kids are away, the rest will play! Our Audio Recording courses with award-winning producer and engineer Magic Moreno have also commenced. Magic will be guiding students through a hands-on, technical ten week course designed to provide an oversight of the recording studio environment. Former Student Keana Perry had this to say about her experience “I recommend having Magic as your teacher! He is a patient and very intelligent person in his field!”

Recording Essentials 101 is a class for our music enthusiasts and techies who are interested in setting up a home studio or putting on a producer hat. Students with a more proficient foundation of knowledge in audio, acoustics, microphone techniques and recording software will be mastering their skill set in Audio Recording, Mixing, and Editing 401.

In addition, our Choir and Youth Orchestra continue with full force, conducted by Mr. Austin Chanu. Students in Choir continue to grow artistically by developing their singing skills, performing in our seasonal concerts, and making friends along their growth. Our Youth Orchestra have been practicing 3 tunes, “American in Paris”, “Sorcerer’s Apprentice”, and “Harry Potter Suite” which they will be performing at our free open POPs Concert Sunday August 21, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served- join us and RSVP today.

As always, our students continue growing and exploring artistically in our music, art, dance, and drama classes. This summer LAMusArt’s hallways will be filled with adventure, enthusiasm, and song. Never miss an opportunity to experience LAMusArt’s talented students, celebrate their accomplishments, and hard work by attending their performances! Sustain, support, and cultivate LAMusArt’s enrichment programs by donating today!
