Job: Drama Teacher

Job Title:   Drama teacher/theatre director Responsible for: Teaching students ages 7 -14 for our CAMP MusArt Summer Enrichment Program Type of Employment: Seasonal Monday, June 23, 2014 – Friday, July, 25, 2014 Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Salary:  $16 per hour (40hrs/week)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor of Arts Degree with an emphasis in theatre

  2. 2 years teaching experience

  3. 2 years experience working with children

ABOUT LAMusArt

  1. LAMusArt was established in 1945 to provide quality and affordable arts instruction to   youth regardless of age, ethnic origin, artistic aptitude or financial means. Over the past sixty-eight years, we have provided arts education activities to over 100,000 students. LAMusArt has a group of 26 dedicated and loyal teaching artists with degrees from local universities, music conservatories, and visual arts schools. Daily, they share their passion for the arts with their students, using their expertise to instruct, mentor and inspire. Program fees are set at affordable levels to allow students from all socioeconomic levels to participate, and financial assistance awards are also granted to provide access to low-income families.

ABOUT Camp MusArt

  1. Camp MusArt, offers students a safe, inspiring and unique immersive experience into the world of musical theatre through music, art, dance and drama. Limited to 48 students, participants ages 7-14 explore their creativity over 5 weeks as they work together with their instructors in daily lessons in music, art, dance, drama and rehearsals to produce a full-length musical performance.

MAJOR TASKS

  1. Develop curriculum and daily lesson plans

  2. Deliver daily drama instruction sessions to students of different ages (between 7 – 14).

  3. Prepare students for the culminating performance

  4. Work effectively and collaboratively with the CAMP MusArt music, art, and dance instructors to produce the program’s culminating performance

  5. Function as the director for the culminating performance

  6. Work effectively with the program coordinator and her team

SKILLS

  1. Experience teaching drama to young students

  2. Experience performing and or teaching musical theatre

  3. Knowledge of theatre games, improvisation, character development, and blocking

  4. Experience directing shows

  5. Knowledge of lighting and sound
