As the holiday season and chilly weather continues, the Los Angeles Music and Art School (LAMusArt) keeps celebrating the spirit of the holidays through its display of student artistry.
This past Sunday, LAMusArt presented the Winter Holiday Concert at the East Los Angeles College Performing Arts Center with performances by ballet dancers, Junior and Youth Orchestra, the Music Outreach Partnership Program with KIPP LA charter schools, and the newly debuted Student Choir.
Veteran student vocalist Adriana Ortega and newcomer Lilah Hernandez also performed holiday classics, such as āO Holy Nightā and āHave Yourself a Merry Little Christmasā.
The Winter Holiday Concert highlighted LAMusArtās tuition-free programs, which are provided free to local East Los Angeles students, and offer music instruction in peer group settings.
Tuition-free programs at LAMusArt are provided in addition to regular class offerings and give access for all students, regardless of socioeconomic status, to music education and performance opportunities.
Contributions from donors, foundation sponsors, and concert ticket sales provide much needed funding to support the prevalence of tuition-free programs and their impact on local East Los Angeles students.
With an energetic and resounding performance of an orchestral suite from the film How to Train Your Dragon, and a display of their growth and talent as a team, the Youth Orchestra student ensemble closed the concert.
