Best thing about LAMusArt: Auditioning and Making New Friends

Marin Hernandez is a bright young woman with a passion for the performing arts and helping others. Marin got her start at LAMusArt in the Camp MusArt summer program and she just finished her 5th year in the program.

In 2014, she was featured in Camp MusArt’s production of The Little Mermaid Jr. as a Mersister where she says she got her first taste of live performance and has been in love with it ever since. She has since appeared as Timon in The Lion King Jr. and most recently as Andrea in Once on This Island Jr.

When asked what the involvement in a Camp MusArt production is like she says, “It’s a lot of pressure,” but adds, “I love the performance.”

In addition to acting, Marin has also taken dance, art, and private music classes at LAMusArt. “I want to take voice lessons so that I can be better prepared for future auditions,” she says.

Marin will soon start 7 th grade at Stevenson Middle School and intends on being an actress when she grows up. She says that she has many fond memories of LAMusArt, but she is most honored to have worked with so many talented people. One of her fondest is appearing alongside her friend Jasmine Felix, who played Pumbaa in The Lion King Jr. and who aged out of the program last year.

“[I am] very honored to have worked with Jasmine Felix on her last [Camp MusArt] show.”

LAMusArt is very proud of Marin and can’t wait to learn what she accomplishes in the future. We hope to see her back at Camp MusArt in the summer of 2019.
