Ayden, 12, has been a student at LAMusArt since he was eight. He joined through the summer program after hearing about it from his aunt. “My aunt Marlene showed me LAMusArt,” he says. “That’s how I found it.”
Since enrolling, Ayden has taken a couple of theater-based classes. “I’ve done Stage Combat, the Audition Workshop, and the Screenplay class,” he says. “Stage Combat was my favorite. I’d be interested in pretty much any theater class.” His passion for the stage has certainly made him a cornerstone of LAMusArt’s theater program.
Ayden has found a place where he can grow creatively, saying that “LAMusArt has given me more confidence. One of his favorite memories came from a big moment on stage. “I had to sing a loud note,” he recalls. “Everyone cheered me on. That made me feel really supported.”
When asked who his favorite teacher is, he replied with certainty that it is Mr. Will. “He teaches us how to act better and he has us play more games that involve acting,” Ayden explains. “He makes it fun.”
Outside of LAMusArt, Ayden enjoys playing the Lorcana trading card game, trying out different sports, and diving into video games.
One of his proudest moments was playing Bruce in a production. “At first I wasn’t happy,” he admits, “but thanks to the support of my friends and family, it helped me feel comfortable about my role.”
Ayden hopes to become an architect someday. “LAMusArt has helped me be more creative,” he says. “That’s something that can really help in architecture.” On the topic of the importance of the arts, Ayden replied, “I think the arts are important because it helps people come to the things they love,” and “Also, it helps people’s creativity.”
When asked how he would convince someone to join LAMusArt, Ayden doesn’t hesitate. “It’s fun,” he says. “You get to meet new people and you get to make a big production.”
Ayden’s curiosity, creativity, and willingness to grow make him a unique presence at LAMusArt. His journey is just beginning, and we’re excited to see his creative path.
